UPDATE: Kim Kardashian West uploaded snippets of the conversation she referenced in her GQ cover story that occurred between her husband, Kanye West and Taylor Swift regarding his song “Famous.” Kardashian posted the clips to her Snapshat snap story with the caption “Judge for yourself.”
In the video, West calls Swift on his cell phone and recites the lyrics to his song “Famous,” in which one line reads: “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex/ Why? I made that bitch famous.” “I think this is a really cool thing to have,” West said. “I know, it’s like a compliment, kind of,” Swift said. “Yeah, I mean, what’s dope about the line is it’s very tongue in cheek either way. And I really appreciate you telling me about it, that’s really nice … For you to ask me if I’d be okay with it, I really appreciate it. I’d never expect you to tell me about a line in your song,” Taylor said. “Relationships are more important than punchlines, you know,” Kanye said.
The July 17th episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians gave some insight into Kim Kardashian-West’s comments in GQ on Taylor Swift and her feud with Kanye West over the song “Famous.” “I’ve had it with people blatantly treating my husband a certain way and making him look a certain way,” Kardashian said to the camera during a confessional interview. “I’m gonna say how I feel.”
Taylor Swift has denied any knowledge of the lyrics prior to the song’s official release. During her Grammy acceptance speech, Swift said, “I want to say to all the young women out there — there are going to be people along the way who will to try to undercut your success or take credit for your accomplishments or your fame,” possibly referencing West’s lyric. West tweeted that he “called Taylor and had a hour long convo with her about the line and she thought it was funny and gave her blessings.”
In her GQ interview, the star spoke candidly about how much proof exists that Swift had approved the lyrics, though the singer claimed to take offense to the “that bitch” lyric after the fact. According to Kardashian, the phone conversation where her husband asked for approval was not only recorded on video, but witnessed by producer Rick Rubin as well. Rubin is clearly standing in the frame of Kardashian’s Snapchat story where West is on the phone with Swift.
“I just felt like I wanted to defend him in it,” Kardashian tells her sister Kourtney. “When we were first dating, everyone would talk shit and he’d always have my back. At this point I really don’t give a fuck, so I’ll do whatever to protect my husband.”
