The name of the suspect who was hauled off to jail after crashing his car and running from deputies in Wichita Falls on Saturday has been released.

Shedrick Cortez Cyrus, a 30 year-old male, is charged with evading arrest or detention with a motor vehicle, possession of a controlled substance and an outstanding warrant for parole violation.
Cyrus remains behind bars in the Wichita County Jail.

Wichita County Sheriff’s Deputies said they tried to pull over Cyrus on Avenue K, but he took off and eventually crashed into the Prestige Paint and Body Shop on Kell.

He then ran from police.

Deputies said when they were chasing him, he threw a bag they believed to be drugs on a nearby roof.

Cyrus was caught behind a house on the 3100 block of Avenue R and taken into custody.

The passenger in the car was found to not be involved and was not arrested.
