How Michael Jackson’s Kids Paris, Prince And Blanket Are Coping 7 Years After Father’s Death

It’s been seven years since they lost their father but Prince, Paris and Blanket Jackson have each found their own ways to honor Michael Jackson’s memory.

Paris, 18, is keeping her dad’s memory alive through body art. In April, she got a tattoo that read “Queen of My Heart” in her father’s handwriting, explaining, “To everyone else he was the King of Pop. To me, well, he was the king of my heart.”

And in May, she added more Michael-themed ink, namely, the cover art from his 1989 album Dangerous.

Although Paris received some flak on social media recently for not posting about Jackson on Father’s Day, she was quick to defend herself on twittersaying, “having 8 tattoos dedicated to someone overrules a single post about them on a stupid social media acc because of a holiday. #justmyopinion.”

Meanwhile, Prince, 19, appears to share his father’s love of music and started an LA production company aptly named King’s Son. He is currently working on the company’s first music video.

In this week’s issue of PEOPLE, an excerpt from Mark Langthorne and Matt Richards’ new book 83 Minutes, tells the inside story of Jackson’s final hours including the terrifying moment when his children Paris, then 11, and Prince, 12, burst into their father’s bedroom and found Dr. Conrad Murray attempting to resuscitate their dad’s apparently lifeless body.

Today, the kids are trying to put that tragic day behind them. Besides his production company, Prince is studying at Loyola Marymount University. Paris, who is not in school, enjoys spending time with her friends including her 26-year-old musician boyfriend Michael Snoddy. Blanket, 14, who was just 7 at the time of his father’s death, attends elite Buckley School in L.A. and is very involved in martial arts, according to a Jackson family source. He and Paris live with their grandmother Katherine Jackson.

“The siblings all remain close,” says a family source. “Prince is always coming home to visit his grandmother.”
