Ticketmaster To Issue Free Tickets To Customers

ticketsTickemaster will offer customers vouchers for free tickets, discounts and cash as a result of a lawsuit filed in 2003.

Ticketmaster denies the allegations of the suit, which said the company was charging “excessive and deceptive fees,” but it settled the lawsuit in April.

As a result of the $386 million class-action settlement, some 50 million customers in the US will benefit from the offer.

Customers who are eligible for the offer purchased tickets on the Ticketmaster website between October 21, 1999 and February 27, 2013. Those orders included an order processing fee that was not refunded to purchasers.

The company said customers who meet the criteria can expect to see a ticket code in their accounts. With the code, customers can get two general admission tickets to selected events and venues – but only those that are owned and operated by Live Nation Entertainment.

The company has not issued a list of those events and venues. Facing a barrage of inquiries from customers seeking their refunds, Ticketmaster said on Twitter Sunday that it could not say when the list will be available, “but we expect it to be soon.”

The company referred those with questions to an info page on the litigation for more details.
