UPDATE: Clay County Sheriff Kenny Lemons says the 3-year-old child died around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday morning.

ORIGINAL STORY:

A Texoma toddler was accidentally shot in the head Tuesday in Vashti, Texas. It happened in a trailer on Buffalo Springs Road.

We’re still working to learn more about what happened, but Clay County officials said the child accidentally shot themself with a 9 millimeter handgun while adults were sleeping.

We have been told that the child is in grave condition.

That child remains at United Regional in the intensive care unit.
