The Alabama Shakes made their Grammy performance debut with a rendition of “Don’t Wanna Fight” after the Sound and Color cut garnered a trophy for Best Rock Song and Best Rock Performance.

Frontwoman Brittany Howard donned a brilliant white dress and cape — a far cry from her old mail carrier day job uniform — and led the Shakes through the pleading, heart-wrenching soul throwback, swallowing the the theater whole with her vocals, which swung easily between ragged and rapturous.

Along with the two wins for “Don’t Wanna Fight,” the Alabama Shakes also picked up the Grammy for Best Alternative Album for their second LP, Sound and Color.

While the Alabama Shakes spent much of 2015 on the road in support of Sound and Color, the group has a handful of South American dates lined up this spring, followed by a North American trek that includes sets at Hangout Festival, Sasquatch and Forecastle.
